From the recording The Last Vibrations of Summer

I never watched the 60s television series “Route 66”, but I always loved hearing the theme song for the show. Recorded by the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, the song sits firmly in my mind, and I listen to it often. When I wrote “Mojave Highway”, it was the feeling
behind the Route 66 Theme that was rolling around
in my mind. My song doesn’t sound anything like the
Nelson Riddle song, but I can tell you that feeling
is what I was going for.
