From the recording We'll Get There First
Thunder 2020 was the working title for our upcoming album We'll Get There. This is because the year 1987 was, for me, "the year everything happened" – our city of Edmonton had a devastating tornado; I bought a new van (with hail stone marks on the roof from tornado day – I got a deal on the van!); our beloved Edmonton Oilers hockey team won the Stanley Cup; our band put out the album Thunder On the Tundra which spawned our hit single "I Could Get Closer To You" and the locally popular title song "Thunder on the Tundra". "Thunder 2020" is a reprise of that tune, this version being more like the way my music partner Jamie Philp and I perform it in our duo shows today. I've had a feeling that 2020 is destined to be another year when "everything happens". So . . . Thunder 2020.
Lyrics
Thunder 2020 (aka Thunder on the Tundra) by Wilfred Kozub
You never know where you have been before
But now you wonder
You’ll never find it where it was before
Blown under cover
You never know who you may come upon
On the tundra
You never know if there’ll be anyone
On the tundra
Thunder on the tundra, thunder on the tundra
Thunder on the tundra, thunder on the tundra (repeat)
You may forget where you have wandered from
On the tundra
She found me lost where I had never come
On the Tundra
She stepped out of the midnight sheet of sun
My first sighting
She walked toward me and my heart was struck
Like lighting
Thunder on the tundra, thunder on the tundra
Thunder on the tundra, thunder on the tundra (repeat)
I think, I think of you
I watch, I watch for you
I dream, I dream of you – I stand motionless for you
Thunder on the tundra, thunder on the tundra
Thunder on the tundra, thunder on the tundra (repeat)
