From the recording Take Out Menu
Vintage, vintage VINTAGE! When I was thinking about which song to add to this page, I came upon this one. It felt like a good Monday song. “Sad New Day” was recorded in my basement studio (8-track Otari deck) around 1984 for our debut Wilfred N & the Grown Men vinyl album, “Riding Double”. This is the same album that contains our Lennon & McCartney cover of “From A Window”. “Sad New Day” is still one of my favorite songs to play live at our gigs. There’s another version of this song (with an alternate “pointillist” guitar solo that I want to hear again – but, alas, it is lost!). I like the analog synth bits on this song . . . I think it was an Oberheim.
