From the recording Waiting For Luck to Come
This song is a little happy sounding, but actually kinda sad. The cool Hawaiian steel guitar is played by my pal, Jamie Philp. In fact, I think Jamie played all the guitars on this track. AT ONCE!! There's a line in this song that goes 'all of the swallows fell to the ground'. It's a cross reference to a painting of mine called "Loving The Radio". Lyrics
The Sun Got Up
by Wilfred Kozub
The rains didn’t come through the way they should have
Like year after year they always do
And I was left here waiting for you forever
Yeah, I waited and I waited and I waited and I waited for you
The sun got up the usual way
The sun went down and got up again
Over and over, again and again
Time after time – drivin’ me around the bend
Damn – I missed summer again
I’ts like a riddle that doesn’t make sense
It’s sad but true
I never found you again
The sun went up, the sun went down
The moon got lost and never was found
The desert got wet, the ocean went dry
And all we would wonder . . . why?
The earth rose up, the sky fell down
And all of the swallows fell to the ground
Butterflies never were free again
All we could do was pretend
. . . over and over the wheel keeps spinnin’
The sun went up, the sun went down
The moon got lost and never was found
The desert got wet, the ocean went dry
All we would wonder was why
The earth rose up, the sky fell down
And all the swallows fell to the ground
Butterflies never were free again
All we could do was pretend
The sun went up, the sun went down
I didn’t wake up like I always do
The moon got lost and never was found
Like a riddle, it doesn’t make sense
I didn’t wake up like I always do
I never found you again
